Man combs through Instagram to find some of the most stylish men social media has to offer. Introducing David Gandy, the ultimate English gentleman
Essex-born David Gandy paved the way for the ‘more masculine’ male model after Italian designers Dolce & Gabbana featured him in their 2007 campaigns. Today, these styles flood the streets of New York, as well as runways around the world.
Since he attained his supermodel status, Gandy has been on a winning streak. From producing his own fashion line (notably his collaboration with Marks & Spencer) to becoming a high-profile fashion and lifestyle blogger, it’s no wonder Hugo Boss named him ‘Most Stylish Man of the Year’ in 2015.
Well known for his impeccable taste in slick suits, Gandy never fails, even when it comes to casual dressing. He keeps it simple but stylish in plain T-shirts under a well-fitted blazer or leather jacket.
King of textures
Rich, bold tweeds elevate the simplest of suits, and Gandy enjoys taking fabrics to new heights. For him, it’s that subtle detail that makes a great suit. Waistcoats are high on his list of what an English gentleman should have in his wardrobe, and he’ll often layer his suits with either mismatched waistcoats or low V-neck cardigans.
Gandy always complements his suits with elegant, understated accessories, such as a brown-strapped watch or a printed pocket square. He sticks to the same colours within shade variations or marries two subtle prints in the same colour palette.
